    Future Passenger Comfort

    The future of local transport is digital, flexible, and sustainable. We are creating a new perspective for this. With the S-Bahn Hamburg IdeenzugUrban, we showcase a vehicle interior of the future, providing our response to the increasing demands of mobility in urban areas. The IdeenzugUrban was developed in collaboration with leading industry partners. In 2021, DB Regio AG laid the foundation for the development of future metropolitan fleets with the IdeenzugCity. The S-Bahn Hamburg demonstrates the consistent advancement of this concept for mobility through the IdeenzugUrban.

    Multifunctional Design

    The focus is on solutions to the most pressing challenges of public transport: increasing passenger numbers and the desire for attractive mobility in the age of climate protection. The train combines architecture, design, new technologies, and materials to improve the quality of the passenger experience. Features include multifunctional areas that offer flexibility for different travel needs - from co-working spaces and lounge corners to retreats for relaxation.

    With this project, S-Bahn Hamburg sets new standards for future mobility and demonstrates how local transport can meet the demands of urban life.

    Multifunctional Design

Features include multifunctional areas that offer flexibility for different travel needs - from co-working spaces and lounge corners to retreats for relaxation.

    With this project, S-Bahn Hamburg sets new standards for future mobility and demonstrates how local transport can meet the demands of urban life.

    Comfort: Space for an Enhanced Travel Experience

    What could a vehicle interior look like that redefines tomorrow's comfort? Clear orientation through colored line codes and intuitive display elements simplifies travelers' journeys. Destination and connection information are strategically placed: Displays in the interior above each door show destinations and intermediate stops, while exit information makes it easier to leave the vehicle quickly and safely. The optimized interior, such as a three-seater vis-à-vis solution, improves passenger flow and offers more space for luggage. Bicycle storage options are flexibly integrated through the seasonal adaptation of seating areas or special holding devices. Wider doors and well-dimensioned boarding areas ensure fast boarding and alighting.

Intelligent lighting concepts, such as illuminated carriage crossings, create a feel-good atmosphere with an improved sense of safety - whether by day or night. Smart real-time cameras ensure and optimize cleanliness and safety on the train and optimize them. Interactive call buttons and supportive technologies, like Bluetooth connectivity for hearing aids, set new standards for barrier-free and secure mobility for passengers. Each feature contributes to making travel smarter and more pleasant.

    Sustainability characterizes the IdeenzugUrban down to the smallest detail. Materials and new seating concepts that reduce the vehicle weight by up to 30 percent save energy - without sacrificing comfort. Also included are new ceiling gondolas, providing optimal information dissemination with minimal energy consumption. At the same time, solar modules on the vehicle roof generate electricity that is fed back into the grid - a step towards climate-neutral mobility. The floor is made of linoleum, which is completely organic and therefore recyclable. It is resistant to dirt and scratches and contributes to a healthy indoor climate. The clear zoning of the floor provides optimum orientation. With these and many other features to discover, the IdeenzugUrban demonstrates that the future of local transport can be innovative and responsible.
